Drifting from the years of being plagued
from the monopoly of cable TV, it’s a relief
to see names like Dish Network and DirecTV
surface. Cable TV has controlled much of the
viewing dimension for years past and has
failed to convince viewers that it is better
than satellite TV. In fact, with the
introduction of satellite TV, cable has even
turned digital in an attempt to draw traffic
away from the competitor and more toward the
long term ruler. Unfortunately, opinions and
statistics have shown satellite television’s
dominance over cable, in every way possible,
be it service, reliability, choice or price.
Cable TV Vs Dish Network , what you need to
know to make your choice:
Price
Though most cable companies seem to offer a
cost-effective option, the total price does
not burn friendly on the pocket. With
increasing charges for every choice made,
cable TV finds itself more friends than
enemies.
On the other hand, satellite TV states its
package deals and add-on charges clearly
from the start, leaving it to the customer
to decide how much to spend on what.

Quality
There’s nothing like high-quality digital
transmission. Though digital cable claims to
offer the same, it’s a hard-backed fact that
satellite transmission scores higher than
the rest where sight and sound are
concerned.
Customer Service
Dish Network gives its customers the
advantage of accessing additional services
such as Pay Per View through their
television interface. Bills, payments,
statements of history, etc. can be made and
acquired through the Internet to make
transactions more convenient. Dish Network
does however, also provide for more
conventional methods of payment, to suit
every customer’s requirements.
Programming
Dish Network offers customers more than 200
channels of digital programming. The overall
cost of subscribing for Dish Network is less
expensive where the number of channels
offered is concerned. And where the
transmission of local channels is higher
with digital cable, Dish Network provides
customers with a wide range of high
definition programming as well as, a number
of locally available channels.
Additional Services
The additional services provided by Dish
Network are an impressive lot. One of the
two existing satellite TV providers, Dish
Network gives customers access to such
privileges as Pay Per View and DVR. An
endless list of PPV programs including
movies, sports and events, Dish Network
allows customers to subscribe for an entire
season of sports on a PPV basis as well.
Digital Video Recording, or DVR provided by
Dish Network requires customers to buy
equipment whereas, cable leases out
equipment for a charge. Even though this may
seem like the practical choice, in the long
run regular users end up paying more than
they bargained for.
Interactive Television
Get the experience of being part of the game
with Dish Network’s interactive side. Dish
Network’s Interactive TV lets you in on your
daily horoscope and play games with your
family on-screen. It’ll keep you informed
about what you’re watching with an on-screen
summary, the title and the time, and let you
skip from the top to the bottom of the list,
in no time at all.
If digital cable TV could provide viewers
with all of the above, there is little faith
that Dish Network would actually be able to
link up with over 15 million customers over
the United States. After all, there has to
be a reason why the numbers keep hitting the
sky.
