A head on comparison of Direct TV with Dish
Network
Direct TV Vs. Dish Network - The Big Fight
Direct TV’s
domination over the satellite TV market has
been long and consistent but, it looks like
the big guys have finally met their match.
Dish Network, Direct TV’s strongest opponent
now offers more channels, and almost as many
sports and movie specials.
…..And the
Pricing?!?
As far as pricing goes, Dish Network has a
number of attractive offers where its
hardware is concerned. You’ll find a great
deal of attractive incentives with almost
everything you buy. And, more often than not
you’ll find Dish Network giving customers a
little something for absolutely nothing.
However, Direct TV’s programming packages
are quite competitive with what Dish Network
offers. So, its upto the customer to ask how
much and when he has to pay whether it’s
cash up-front or an In – House Service Plan,
to see what price suits his pocket the best.

…..And the
Programming?
Where programming is concerned, once again
the choice is a customer’s. Both Dish
Network and Direct TV offer excellent
entertainment packages in high quality
digital transmission. All that’s left is
making your choice.
Sports
Dish Network offers the College Game Plan,
one of its more popular sports packages, as
well as, numerous other pro sports options.
For a choice like the NFL Ticket, however,
which lets you choose between every game
then, you’ll have to go with Direct TV.
Other than this, the other sports
programming is more or less quite the same,
primarily concentrating on multi-regional
college sports, mostly broadcast by Fox.
Then again, it’s upto the viewer to decide.
Movies
Both providers offer similar programming
where cinema is concerned. The same premium
channels such as HBO, Starz Encore and
Showtime, there isn’t much difference in the
packages they offer, though there is a
slight difference in price. The actual
difference however, is only in the number of
Pay Per View channels offered. Dish
Network offers upto 60 choices a day as
against Direct TV’s 55.
Adult
The only significant difference in what is
offered in adult programming is that Dish
Network offers 6 channels whereas Direct TV
offers only 5.

International
Where international programming is
concerned, Dish Network takes the cake.
Dish Network offers 30 channels of foreign
programming with its eye on most of the
non-American world while Direct TV offers
a mere 10 channels, focused largely on
the Spanish audience.
Dish Network is by far on par with
everything Direct TV has to offer. In
certain aspects, it may even prove better.
Nonetheless, the undeniable fact is that
both providers offer similar programming,
suited to the tastes of different viewers.
In the end, it can only depend on what a
viewer wants to watch to decide what package
and which provider suits him best.
